Welcome to Bultaco Motorcycle Monthly, a brand-new online magazine for Bultaco owners and fans. This world renowned Spanish motorcycle has been a championship name in racing since before World War II. Francisco Bulto founded Montesa Motorcycle Company in 1946 to develop road racing motorcycles.

The company shareholders were determined to stay within the main stream production of utility motorcycles and remove Montesa Motorcycles from the Grand Prix (GP) racing circuit by 1958. Bulto, however, decided to leave Montesa to form a new company of his own: Bultaco Motorcycles.

The first Bultaco motorcycle produced was a 125cc Tralla 101. This bike had only 12 hp and was capable of speeds of 71 miles per hour. Moreover, it had impressive engineering in form of brakes and suspension. Bulto entered the GP race and won against some of the biggest names in the world of racing, including Ducatti and Desmo. This victory gave his new motorcycle brand an enormous boost and led to the sale of over 1100 motorcycles in the first year.

Bultaco continued to win races in the years to come while the brand became a synonym for speed and success. Naturally, they continued to add new models. In 1965 the first trail bikes released were an instant success. The Sherpa T was the first foreign bike to beat the English cycles in the hill climb division. Due to this success Bultaco expanded his market into the United States, which spurred on the company’s growth tremendously.

Unfortunately, the company was closed in 1979 because of a labor strike. Even though it eventually merged with Montesa, the Bultaco brand was never the same again.

Yet it is as popular as ever and we are excited about bringing you the latest and greatest information about this fantastic motorcycle brand. Join us every month to help us spread the word about one of the hottest names in the world of motorcycles.
